How
to set up a Public Web Station:
1.
Make sure you have all the equipment.
You will need:
- A
Functioning computer
with 128 Megabytes of RAM, a CD-ROM drive, video card(if not
integrated into the motherboard), and ethernet card(or integrated).
- A
Monitor
- A
Keyboard and Mouse
- A
working internet
connection and CAT5 cable
- A
burnt CD with the special DSL linux which will boot to Firefox

Set up the computer!
- First
plug in the
Keyboard and Mouse. These are the Purple
and Green PS2 connectors. If the keyboard or mouse is USB,
the use the USB ports(rectangular)
- Plug in the Video Cable,
this is the 15-pin blue
colored
connector:

- Plug
the ethernet(CAT5) cable into the port that looks like
a large telephone jack.

- Plug
the station in, and put the CD into the
CD-ROM of the computer.
3. Set up the station
to
boot from CD
- You will need to enter the
BIOS of the computer.
This can be done by varius ways, but is usually F1, F2, or
the DEL key. Different systems use different keys, but
usually on older machines one of these keys will take you into the BIOS.
- Once in the bios, look for
something that will
set the boot order. Sometimes this is a menu that says
"Boot", but you may need to navigate the BIOS to find it.

- Set the computer to boot to
the CD-ROM drive,
and hit F10 to save and exit.

- When
the computer reboots, it will boot to the
CD.
